Louis XIV (Saint-Germain-en-Laye, September 5, 1638 – Versailles, September 1, 1715), known as Louis the Great (French: Louis le Grand) or the Sun King, was king of France and of Navarre. Back from the hunt, he feels a severe pain in his leg. Just after he had been in bed for two weeks in Versailles. It is the beginning of a slow death of one of the greatest monarchs France has known.
