Victor Quinn, a thriving fifties, former communist and now owner of a lucrative computer company is married to Elsa, a much younger woman with a drug history and all that comes with it. Despite themselves, their marriage is at a dead end. Paul, a talented young poet, unfortunately more alcoholic in withdrawal, very vulnerable and totally broke, wants an interview with this computer tycoon. However, he offers him a job in his company. Elsa and Paul fall passionately in love with each other. A relationship develops where intoxication and guilt go hand in hand.
