Broken Lullaby plot
"Honor Thy Father...And Thy Mother BUT HOW ABOUT OUR ENEMY'S PARENTS? How About His Sweetheart, the Girl We Love?"
Paul Renard, a young French soldier, feels guilty for killing a German, Walter Holderlin, during World War I. After a memorial service in 1919, he approaches a priest to confess his guilt. Renard receives forgiveness and absolution from the priest. But that's not enough for him. He decides to take a dramatic step: he wants to visit Walter's family in Germany, to ask them for forgiveness. Initially he is rejected by Walter's father. But Elsa, Walter's betrothed, has seen Renard put flowers on his grave. Finally, Renard is warmly welcomed by the family. He tells them that he was a friend of Walter's, he doesn't dare tell them the truth.
