De Kinderen van Mijn Vader plot

Documentary in which Meral Uslu investigates who is the person behind her father Ata Uslu, a charming adventurer with a riotous lifestyle. A man from a patriarchal farming family in Turkey, who left Turkey in the 1960s and ended up in the flower power era. His wife was left alone with the children in Turkey for the first few years. For Ata Uslu, the Netherlands was heaven on earth and he took full advantage of his freedom. This lifestyle has left him with a number of legitimate and illegitimate children. Through conversations with her (half-) sisters and brothers, Meral Uslu tries to find out her father's character and life course, but also what fatherhood means for his children.
