No Man Is an Island plot
For more than two decades, refugees from Africa and the Middle East have been arriving at Lampedusa, an outpost of Europe. For some, this transit island became the final destination. They started a new life on the spot. Omar is such a refugee. He is 21 and comes from Tunisia. Like so many others, he left Tunisia during the Arab Spring. His rickety boat ran aground on the coast of Lampedusa. Omar is lucky enough to be taken care of by doctor Bartolo, the local doctor who gives the first care to the washed up refugees. In the same period, 16-year-old Adam from Ghana also reaches the island. He is taken care of by a hotel manager and works in the hotel as an assistant.
