"The epic film based on Mikhail Sholokhov's classic novel in COLOR"
A proud Cossack warrior (Pyotr Glebov) from an isolated Russian community tries to break away from his tyrannical father. He fights bravely in World War I and then returns to his wife, whom his father forced him to marry. The young man is against this arranged marriage and begins an affair with the wife of a fellow Cossack, his first childhood love.
