Escaped prisoner mistakes a can of Cobalt-60 for heroin and thinks he's in good shape financially. Just wondering who the hell keeps the Kobalt-60 in a steel cylinder or what bizarre experiments they performed on prisoners in the 1950s.

Anyway, the film focuses on the question of where our escaped convict with his highly radioactive stuff is .... in metropolitan LA.

Excellent film material further, but does not rise far above the average 1950s crime film, although the radioactivity and the potential disaster still make it exciting. Nice final too.

This is a real movie for me. I wouldn't dare recommend him to anyone. That Irving Lerner's career contains relatively few films is a minor tragedy. This is how delicious a pulpy B movie can be. His very left-wing opinions probably pushed him to the margins of American cinema, Shorts, documentaries, B-movies and TV. But he turns a sensational fact into a film that is contrary. Which doesn't show much action, but what is in front and behind it does. Which was filmed in LA, but not in the cinematic spots, but in a way that shows the development into a car-oriented suburban city very clearly (urban planning is an interest of mine). Which gives the film a different desolate atmosphere. A cold war film about silence and telling and a very paranoid film. And very compact, forty-five minutes and a very economic plot. Predecessor Murder By Contract is even better, but this is also a delightful film. With quite interesting moral questions.
