Civilization as we know it has been destroyed, but remnants can still be found. A man has decided to visit a famous pre-apocalyptic museum, now isolated in the middle of a new sea, the result of melting Arctic ice. Those who cling to the remnants of the ancient civilization live in isolated settlements and subdue the larger numbers of mutants they keep in concentration camps (excluding those who work as servants). The Stranger, a strange-looking man, is brought in by the mutants as the long-awaited Messiah. Soon he becomes involved in the freedom struggle of the mutants and leads his followers to a new land on the other side of the sea.
