And When Did You Last See Your Father? plot

"Between every father and his son there is a story to be told."

When writer Blake Morrison (Colin Firth) learns that his father (Jim Broadbent) is dying, he travels to his hometown. As his father's condition deteriorates, father and son look back on their bond. Beautiful and funny, but also annoying memories of the past are retrieved on the sick bed. However, this does not always turn out to be a pleasant experience and some memories turn out to be deeply buried.

Really a beautiful film and great acting! Where do they keep getting these stories from?

Beautifully acted film with endearing characters and an interesting story. Unfortunately, they don't go too deep into the subject matter and it remains fairly superficial. Especially the flashback structure unfortunately doesn't always work. As a result, the bond between the adults remains slightly undercooled.

Beautiful and honest film about the relationship between a son and his father, and the inevitable farewell that comes with it. Very well played, without exaggerated drama or sentimentality. For me very recognizable in how it went in my father's last years, and therefore also very clear what the title means exactly.

Very good.
