When life in cosmopolitan São Paulo becomes too expensive for her, beautiful 21-year-old Hermila returns with her young child to her poor hometown of Iguatu in northeastern Brazil, assuming her husband will soon follow. When he doesn't show up even after a long wait, she has to adjust her pink gaze on reality. But Hermila's zest for life, courage and mood swings know no bounds. Although she seems to be able to count on warmth and love in her native country, the unknown lures in other places. Determined to make more of her life than her best friend, the hooker Georgina, she devises a plan to escape rural life. Under the name Suely, she organizes a lottery where the winner gets to spend a night with her.
