A mediocre drama/fantasy/sf film...

A boring story...

Only plays black and white film...

No talking, just text...

Classical music (Dolby Digital) is mine

thing not...

Reasonable acting...

Not worth it...

Esteban Sapir is more interested in visual references to the silent films of Fritz Lang (particularly Dr Mabuse and Metropolis) and subordinates the story to that. His direction is sometimes reverent, sometimes almost endearingly clumsy, and the lack of interest in characterization or substantive depth makes this especially interesting for fans of silent cinema, who may be encouraged to revisit the work of the German grand master. It all looks nice, but as Herman Finkers once said: "As John F Kennedy said: "Wasn't it Homer who wrote: "Originality is the most beautiful thing there is.""

What a nice creative film from Sapir. Each scene is one of surreal inventiveness that I watched with great fascination from beginning to end. It's also nice how the lyrics were incorporated into the film. Daring, but successful. Maybe a bit tiring. Reminded me a bit of Bunuel.

The forced silences of the characters also reminded me of the Argentine junta in the 1970s and 1980s, where President Videla maintained a bloody dictatorial regime. In the film, the votes of the population are "stolen" by Mr. TV, although it is the all-powerful media that is being targeted here.

Fresh and original, that is the only reason why this film deserves points. But perhaps not for everyone.
