Ostrov plot
During World War II in 1942, a sailor is more or less forced by the Nazis to betray and kill his captain. We meet him again in 1976 in a monastery on a small, remote island as priest Anatoli. He is the pastor of the small Orthodox congregation there and is regarded as a Saint with healing and unctuous powers. But Anatoli does not see herself as the great believer who has to follow the rules of faith of the church that feels more important than God and is still weighed down by deep feelings of guilt and penance.
