The movie is a crime comedy? Not noticed anything. It's about a hit man who polishes corpses for their funeral and who has just started working for the AA. He also meets a woman and a romance develops. I would rather call it a romantic drama, with some subtle comedic elements in it. A pleasant surprise for me, I think this is a very nice film.

Ok, every now and then a crook comes by with a mafiose look, but that's it.

The images are good, well cared for and the songs and other sound are pleasant and mood-enhancing. Actors are well attuned to each other, the acting looks natural and it convinces.

Finally a romantic comedy with an original approach

Wonderful black humor, beautiful roles by Ben Kingsley - who sometimes plays a slightly different role than usual - and Tea Leoni. Nice to see how the couple grows together. Real love.

Nice film that quickly manages to build a bridge with some dry humor. Kingsley is at his best in the beginning, as an expired, cranky triggerman who never misses an opportunity to reach for a bottle. Funny to give such a murderer a job in a morgue when he is ordered to dry up. Uncomfortable phenomenon, those AA meetings, and Dahl knows how to deal with that too if he just lets Frank tell you what his daily job is. The girlfriend, a sharp-mouthed aunt, also goes along so smoothly in that honesty. Towards the final it all gets tamer. The film gets more difficult when Frank thaws and with Philip Baker Hall and Dennis Farina as mafia bosses you expect a bit more in that area. All in all, a fairly smooth film, partly due to the playful music.
