La Noche de las Gaviotas plot

A young doctor and his wife arrive in an isolated fishing village, where it quickly becomes quite clear that the locals are hiding a terrible secret. Eventually, they discover that every seven years the villagers have to sacrifice seven young women to the Templars. In a satanic ritual, the girls have their blood drawn, their hearts removed and sacrificed to a monster worshiped by Templars.

Extremely atmospheric work and a good ending to the Blind Dead series.

The tone is immediately set with a beautiful flashback in which a busty woman is chopped to pieces and partly eaten. The blood flows freely and we have no complaints about nudity.

Once in the present (in 1975) it becomes very uncomfortable for the protagonists when they appear to be completely unwelcome in the village where the man is to become a doctor. Always nice to see those classic villagers who give our hero the cold shoulder.

Fortunately, after setting the right atmosphere, we don't wait too long before introducing the Blind (un)Dead, and the sight of the creatures rising from their graves and galloping towards their horses in fantastic slow motion is something that stays with you. just a moment. Unfortunately, this trick is used a little too often, but the story of the seagulls (the souls of the sacrificed girls) was quite scary and impressively told.

The blind Templars are as impressive as ever with their emaciated heads and wrapped in their robes, riding on their horses, but now you noticed that those skinny hands are not too threatening and even a bit ridiculous. The end of the film is with the siege of the house in the style of Night of the Living Dead's exciting, but the ending is a bit too easy.

There are also a few minor flaws (the night images were clearly filmed during the day), but it's all quite exciting and the Blind Dead get a worthy farewell with Seagulls.

After the rather weak 3rd part, the as always fantastic looking Templars come with an unprecedented resurrection. Because this 4th part is not only much better than the 3rd part, but is actually the strongest part of the entire series.

Fantastic atmosphere as always, but what makes this one better than all the other parts is the much better acting and story.

In terms of story, the best part of the four parts, each directed by Amando de Ossorio. Fortunately, the nice location of the ruin is also back compared to the third part. The film opens well with the sacrifice of the busty Susana Estrada by the Templars. The viewer then gets to see some nudity of Julia Saly, who also becomes a victim of the Templars. Unfortunately, it remains a bit poor in terms of gore, although the zombie-like Templars still look beautiful. 6.5/10
