Knallhart plot

Fifteen-year-old Michael Polischka (David Kross) moves to a working-class neighborhood with his mother (Jenny Elvers). The tough mentality that prevails there is very different from that of the chic suburb where he used to live. Aggression and extortion by a violent gang make going to school hell for him. His home situation isn't much better as he has to deal with the new sweethearts of his mother who is desperately looking for a new man. However, his life takes a new turn when the criminal Hamal (Erhan Emre) takes him under his wing. Michael's innocent demeanor makes him the right person to deliver drugs to local dealers. The teen handles the pressures of these assignments very skillfully. Michael proves he's tough enough, but in the end he also realizes he's in an extremely dangerous position.

A decent crime/drama film...

Reasonable story...

Decent acting...

Playing his crime way too young...

Reasonable camera work, movement too fast...

Reasonable quality widescreen (no HD present)...

Reasonable sound (Dolby Digital)...

This movie seemed very realistic to me. The story itself was not very raw, but there was also no overly sentimental stuff. It was right in the middle which gave it a more realistic feel.

You could say that the film is full of clichés such as a divorced mother, neglect, bullying, etc. but they are not clichés for nothing. This just happens a lot in reality.

Yes, I do appreciate that the story wasn't overly harsh or dramatic. There is a risk that the story will ripple, but I don't think that happened.

The final scene was very loud and horrifying. A fine climax.

Fine German crime drama, in which an adolescent (David Kross) becomes involved in cases that cannot bear the light of day. Well made and played, with a suitably bleak mood drawing. The images of the slums and the criminal environment are striking and convincing. Here and there perhaps a little too thick, but in terms of credibility the film remains just on track everywhere.
