Mediocre.

It's funny to read that this is a film for "adults", while 16+ actually just means that you are presented with an extremely adolescent work. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but of course this is not very adults. On the contrary.

Unfortunately, some of the humor is just plain nonsense again. Saying a lot of fuck isn't very funny and if you really have to, a tasty British accent can help. With Americans it is often wanting but not being able to. The allusions are also repeated too often and fall into the same vein too often. And the puns are just very bland and not suitable as a running gag.

The film is more fun when played with parodies and analogies. The Saving Private Ryan scene is very nicely done, although I liked the horror kitchen just a bit better. You're looking at a mini-braindead for a moment. The kick to the shins of religion is also funny, but then you notice that the writers were not really ingenious enough to really make up for it.

As far as the directing is concerned, one has once made a Thomas the Tank Engine film, the other Shrek 2. It pretty much indicates what you can expect from the directing. Voice work mainly consists of well-known names, although most are so attached to their type that it is rarely really disturbing.

Despite the short playing time, I had seen it after an hour. The movie isn't consistently funny enough and the last hour is actually an exaggeration of the lesser humor. Still, there are a few very nice scenes in it and the first hour is fairly easy to get through. It's better significantly better than Pixar and its sequel, but a long way from "good".

2.5*
