Shit audience!

Although the festival was fine again. Things went terribly wrong with this film. A room full of failed people who, if they don't like something, have to show it to everyone. Sighing loudly all the time because of that kind of nonsense.

VERY annoying. The movie may not have been fantastic, but it was still a nice snack. Reasonable pace, nice tension in most of the movie. Unfortunately the movie goes a bit off the rails towards the end, ugly monsters that suddenly appear and it could all have been a bit more subtle.

But still quite nice. 3* seem appropriate to me. Although with a nicer audience I could have judged it better.

Why do people have to let everyone hear during the movie that they don't like it? So rude, I always keep my mouth shut until after the movie, then you can sigh as much as you want.

Solid.

Partly thanks to the setting. Always nice, those wide snow landscapes, everything nicely desolate from the inhabited world. Good setting for a horror/thriller, that is ultimately the great happiness for Fessenden.

The film is not bad, but also not really remarkable. Except for the somewhat brackish ending, it follows the beaten paths without creating too much tension or mystery. There are better ecothrillers to be found, also in the snow by the way and also around the global warming thing.

First hour is interesting, although the acting is not very strong, but the basic mystery is good. Ending is not really appropriate and also very ugly. Lack of budget is not bad in itself, but solving it this way goes a bit over the top.

Not bad, reasonable filler, but only if you are otherwise really dry.

2.5*

Great environment, remote, white and desolate that keeps the film going for a while, but that's about it. If you let your characters slowly turn, you need to have the cast for it and write a few interesting roles. The first one works somewhat, the second one considerably less. Perlman is the corporate dick, Le Gros the voice of reason and Britton, oh dear, the girl between the two.

Dull dynamics that keep nagging throughout the entire running time. Even when Mother Nature finally starts to stir, it hardly lifts the film to a higher level. Something is smoldering, but Fessenden doesn't get much further than that for a long time. That has to happen during the finale, but the appearances that you get there don't make it any better. Too colorless and too clumsy.
