Quite a fun film to watch, very dated and the story is certainly quite simple nowadays.

What makes this film worth seeing is clearly the innovative computer with a mind of its own, the love story that comes with it is only mediocre and personally brings down the average of the film for me.

Definitely fun for a change, but there are better computer related 80s movies.

2.5*

Very sweet film with a simple love story, at times pleasantly romantic and Virginia Madsen was the right doll for this film. Furthermore I also saw some propaganda in it for the possibilities of the computer. Home automation, artificial intelligence and making music with a PC are now self-evident, but 35 years ago this was still quite visionary. Also a fairly musical film, with work by Moroder, Culture Club, Phil Oakey.

This was one of about ten films from Richard Branson's film company Virgin, which existed for only a few years until it became unprofitable for the businessman.

A comical variation on the much more captivating Demon Seed (1977). Madsen is delightful and the fairly musical film can be called quite progressive for its time, although Demon Seed was already 7 years earlier when it comes to a possessive computer that is connected to everything. Unfortunately, much of the music is a lot less (Bach still holds up in my opinion) and the humor is very old-fashioned, silly and forced. Also less is the flat Dohlen with his window glasses. The computer itself also has an annoying little voice and never really gets its own personality, apart from some childish behavior. All in all, despite the efficient playing time, just a little too often a bit annoying and dated, while I really like 80s and synth music.
