Flandres plot
Flanders. Demester splits his time between working the farm and hanging out with Barbe, an old childhood friend. Demester loves her and accepts, as painful as it is, that Barbe gives little in return. Along with other peers, Demester waits to be sent to a foreign land where war is raging. Cruelty, camaraderie and fear slowly turn Demester into a real soldier.
