Yam Daabo plot
Poverty and misery are pervasive in Gourga, a village in the Sahel. The inhabitants have to choose: stay and wait for international aid or move to more fertile areas in the country. A farming family consisting of an elderly mother and father with their young son Ali, their daughter Bintou and her beloved Salam travel south. When they stop in a town to sell their donkey, Ali is hit by a car and he dies. The family travels on in search of a better life.

The atmosphere is really fine, but the acting is a whole lot weaker, and as a result, the characters and story fail to truly captivate. It's a shame, because the film has a pleasant tone and wants to say sensible things, but simply fails to convince sufficiently. Barely sufficient in some aspects. 3.0*.
