No Way Out plot

"Is it a crime of passion, or an act of treason?"

During a tantrum, Defense Secretary David Brice kills his mistress. To cover up the scandal, his trusty collaborator creates the perfect cover: he "invents" a tantalizing killer - a Russian spy - then enlists the help of Navy Commander Tom Farrell to find him. However, if determined by fate, Farrell also has a strong connection with the victim... and any traces he discovers to solve the crime lead directly to him! Farrell's search for the killer isn't just a matter of national security, it's also one to save his own skin.

After years of seeing this film again, when you see the film for the first time, the opening scene misleads you for a large part of the film. For the rest it is a solid thriller with good performances by both Kostner and Patton, I think Hackman is a bit on autopilot. Good role also from Dzundza as one of the first computer nerds. The few action scenes are well portrayed, the political scheming is a bit underexposed and that's a shame. I found the ending very surprising the first viewing, now I was aware and, then I think the scene is a bit too short, more could have been done. As a positive plus point the music of Maurice Jarre, timeless.

Good film in which we see Kevin Costner working on his fitness . Run, Kevin, run because the FBI and who knows who else is after you man! Haha, this isn't an athlete biopic but a romance that turns into a nightmare. The film has a somewhat cautious build-up of relationships in the first hour, in which Sean Young supposedly had to represent a femme fatale. I do think that the film fails because, as far as I'm concerned, Young isn't even that attractive. She comes across as quite pushy and her death is kind of implausible. She also falls on a coffee table that breaks her fall and yet she would have broken her neck, I don't know. I mean Kevin Costner also falls somewhere quite similar, but he stands up and continues running as if nothing happened. What a hunk!

Costner performs well here and puts down a character here with balls of steel. Sean Young was a bit more annoying (she probably can't change that smile). Will Patton came across to me as expected from his character. Before the end I still expected that Costner would be arrested but the real ending of the film turned out to be different. It became an ending that poses new questions that will never be answered. Was it really love between Farrell (Costner) and Susan (Sean Young) or was the real purpose mainly to extract state secrets?

This movie is dedicated to John Alcott (cameraman on four well-known Stanley Kubrick films).

Pretty good thriller with a good cast. Almost classic movie but still good to watch. Almost 2 hours of suspense and constantly fascinating. Tom Farrell who constantly has to make efforts not to be suspected: Denzel Washington in Out of Time (Film, 2003) could have cheated at this movie 'No way out'. The surprise at the end of the film was to be expected.
