Tenshi no Kôkotsu plot

This film is about a group of activists who call themselves The Four Seasons Association. But what starts as a political protest quickly degenerates into listless freeing and violent acts of revenge. It doesn't take long before the group starts to show cracks, and some members are unstoppable.

Fascinating movie.

Not as strong as Go Go, but here again a film that seems far ahead of its time. Beautiful b&w shots alternated with very nice color shots. Seems a bit random sometimes, but it is effective.

The comparison with Godard is certainly there, very political and activist-oriented film. Especially in the beginning it dares to drag on a bit too long, but the further the film progresses the more fascinating it becomes, culminating in a truly impressive scene about 10 minutes before the end. Looks like an early Tsukamoto.

This is allowed, classic films that look modern. It's a novelty for me. Anyone else have some titles? The beginning is a bit boring, but it becomes more and more impressive. 3* with a big half for that one scene. So 3.5*, highly recommended.

The third Wakamatsu film I have seen and certainly the least. Too much left-wing political nonsense or rather shouting. But yes, we are used to the latter from the Japanese by now. We also encountered this left-wing radicalism in the late 1960s films by Godard and Zabriskie Point by Antonioni. Those roughly 10 minutes of bomb and grenade explosions - easily the best part of the film - immediately reminded me of a similar scene in Zabriskie Point and also a similar scene in Tsukamoto's Bullet Ballet.

3.5*

A strange film about urban terrorists in Japan. There are no names for the characters, only times of year, for example autumn and winter; and months and days of the week for their subordinates. One group steals some bombs from a US Army warehouse and the other group takes them for themselves. Lots of explosions and some kinky Japanese sex follow. Filmed mostly in black and white, this is probably a good introduction to Japanese cinema. No idea why a limited number of scenes were in color.

To be honest, I couldn't do much with it. I already saw better things from Wakamatsu. The internal tensions that developed due to abuse of power were interesting.
