One of the most deranged films I've seen in a long time. I see the reviews are quite mixed (and I don't necessarily mean here), but I still found it utterly captivating. The audiovisuals are especially fantastic. Initially, it's all somewhat linear, but the film quickly descends into a manic nightmare that only ends when the credits roll. Not everything works equally well; at times it almost becomes farcical, but there's not much time to dwell on it anyway. Think of a cross between Gaspar Noé (audiovisual style) and Jodorowsky (the high WTF factor). 4*, a solid.

Visually pleasing, but other than that, the film has little to offer.

No story at all...the movie is about nothing.

Oh well, directors who are on LSD and crack are allowed to make films too.

1.5 stars for the sometimes visually pleasing.

Horror from Mexico! Well, it seems like another artistic film that completely captivates you, or simply makes you wonder what nonsense I've just seen. Let me be clear: the film certainly manages to create a certain bizarre, grim atmosphere with an atmospheric setting, some tasteful shots, and a lot of distasteful sex and gore that I wasn't looking for. Perverse, porn, brutality, filth...it's all there. Does this mean it's horror for me?...unfortunately not. I couldn't do much with it, and the whole nonsensical aspect of it didn't bother me. The story, which interprets sex, death, and rebirth, is presented in a way where the intention to confront the viewer must command full attention, and everything else is of secondary importance. And that's the rub, because the confrontation and all the accompanying nonsensical stuff don't captivate me at all. The film meanders along with all sorts of sexual fantasies and vague scenes that sometimes surprise you, but it never became a fascinating viewing experience for me. 3/10
