Brugge, Die Stille plot

A forty-year-old widower, from the upper middle classes and housed in an imposing mansion, lives solely for the memory of his deceased wife. Whenever the melancholy becomes unbearable, he goes for a walk along the canals of Bruges, where everything reminds him of his former lover. On one of his lonely journeys through Bruges, he meets a young ballet dancer who looks just like his wife. This completely confuses the man.
