At first I thought it wouldn't be for me but apparently there is a romantic in me after all.

This movie was really much better than expected, based on the reviews here I even thought to skip this one. I'm actually really glad I didn't. Visually beautiful and I admit there are a few weak points in the script here and there but other than that it's even funny at times and at other times I was moved. And that's great, that's what I expect from a movie.

I thought in the beginning, you shouldn't expect Interstellar or The Martian, it won't be that good. It's something different, but I'm sure I had as much fun with it as I did with the other two. This movie probably has a much lower budget too and it didn't really stand out. These kind of movies (space movies in general) are definitely my thing.

Ask yourself, why would a great actor like Gary Oldman want to be in this? Then he must have found it a good script, right? I didn't even think he was the star here, that was Asa Butterfield and Britt Robertson. I really liked the music (but I'm very tolerant in this area - I like to listen to almost everything). Yes, I wish this movie could have been longer. Now the appreciation. I also know that the film has its flaws scientifically, but that didn't really bother me at all. Just let the movie come your way, you don't have to think about this! You just have to enjoy this 4*

“I'm on a road trip with an insane person.”

Nice movie. Story-wise, there's a lot to like about The Space Between Us and it's not a movie for you if you're allergic to unrealistic plot developments, coincidences and some 'corny' dialogue. But what this film does have is a big beating heart, a compelling story, beautiful cinematography, humor, good music and strong acting.

The chemistry between the young actors Butterfield and Robertson is very good, and Oldman and Gugino make the most of their limited roles. The film has a somewhat long lead-up, but once Gardner travels from Mars to Earth it gets better. The Space Between Us looks like sci-fi at first glance, but it is of course just a coming of age film about two teenagers who learn to discover each other, themselves and the world. And because this works so well, I turn a blind eye to all the ridiculous and unrealistic stuff.

A reasonable adventure film with a bit of science fiction, a dash of drama and a good dash of romance. The alternation of the themes makes the film, which in itself is not very startling, nevertheless a pleasant pastime. Not a movie that will stay with you for long.
