A strong Czechoslovakian political drama, which could easily have been called From Dusk till Dawn in Czechoslovak, as that is the time period in which the film is set.

The film style is different, but beautiful, and gives us a good insight into the private lives of the two main characters. The pace is quite slow and I had some trouble getting into it at the beginning, but slowly it becomes more and more fascinating. Both actors play very well, with the woman being slightly better in my opinion. The discussions the two have with each other and their seemingly rather hostile attitude towards each other, are slowly elaborated further, and there appears to be a deeper meaning behind it, which the director works very well into the story.

The criticism of the government's power comes across nicely and it is quite logical that this was also noticed in Czechoslovakia at the time. I even found the last half hour extremely exciting, because at a certain point you go along with the paranoid behavior of the couple, and I had the idea at any moment that people could come into the house. The ending surprised me somewhat, but I still thought it was very beautiful.

Sometimes you just have to persevere for 15 minutes and then you are rewarded with an extremely captivating Czechoslovakian Nouvelle Vague. Watching movies can often be beautiful.

Of course, this Czech film could not be missed. It had already been written about extensively in the book "1001 films, the most talked about films of all time". However, at first it did not look like this film, which immediately reminded me of "Das Leben der Anderen", would be a talking point for me. During the bickering between the man and the woman, I sometimes had the idea that I was watching a kind of "Who is afraid of Virginian Wolf". The acting was definitely good, especially that of the woman. I still did not want to get really enthusiastic until just before the end the phone rang in the house. What I then heard from the man's mouth surprised me so much that "Ucho" still gets a more than adequate rating from me.
