Full of the fatherland and of course only happy faces, but less propagandistic than Hippler's Ewige Jude.

At times, the visuals are interesting and impressive, but unfortunately, the image quality is somewhat poor (and I had to make do without subs). The music is too bombastic, and the "animation" tactics are laughable, but this documentary feels much more like a documentary than The Eternal Jew.

This one is indeed better than The Eternal Jew. No antisemitic Nazi propaganda this time. Less propagandistic, in the least. The propaganda film opens shamelessly with the fake news that the Germans repelled the Polish attack on September 1, 1939, and are now firing back. We see historical footage of the shelling by the German warship Schleswig-Holstein and the attack on the Danzig post office. The beginning of the Second World War. It's not really spectacular, though. Despite the Poles' courageous resistance, they are simply overwhelmed. The distorted faces of the Polish prisoners of war clearly show the chaos of the first week. The Volksdeutsche, of course, greet the liberators with loud enthusiasm. And the Führer worship goes so far that Hitler is portrayed as a Napoleon in the Polish Campaign. The propaganda runs rampant when the false press reports on the destruction of the Black Madonna of Częstochowa. This wasn't the case, even though the Nazis didn't realize they were dealing with a copy (the icon had been secured by the monks). Warsaw was bombed from September 1st onward, which doesn't prevent the documentary filmmaker from blaming the Poles for not complying with the ultimatum in order to spare the civilian population. A cheerful, overweight Polish officer provides a wry comic relief, completing the surrender on September 28th.
