A reasonable spaghetti western that mainly relies on Ennio Morricone. The composer who would be responsible for the beautiful soundtrack of C'era una Volta il West (1968) in the same year. This light-hearted western provides more than an hour and a half of entertainment. The chemistry between Giuliano Gemma and Mario Adorf works nicely. It's a pity that the humor is not always successful, but this should not spoil the fun.

2.5 *

This evening I was watching in Italian on a beautiful German Blu-ray.

Good, amusing Spaghetti western, in which Gemma forms a duo with Adorf this time. One a smooth, talkative con man, the other a somewhat rough, simple soul.
Together they try to get money (which Gemma first took from Adorf) to renovate the farm that Adorf inherited from his father.

Federico Boido, a face you often encounter in these types of films, plays the main villain, who with his gang is after Gemma on behalf of his father, a role played by Anthony Dawson (Dr. No, Red Sun), who the end itself also shows up and is, if possible, even more sadistic and meaner than his son.

Nice final match, with nail-biting tension, with an ending that you could probably have guessed - if you had paid attention a few minutes earlier - but of course I didn't notice anything.

Atmospheric, slightly melancholic score by Morricone.

A big seven, or 3.5 stars.

This light-hearted western works well in the first hour given the chemistry between Giuliano Gemma and Mario Adorf, but after a while you've had enough between the two because the humor remains mainly on the bland side. It seems like Gemma is constantly playing a con artist and Adorf just can't trust him. It doesn't get really exciting anywhere, not even the final match. The scene with the widow Dorothy (Magda Konopka) is on the one hand funny and a bit sexy because eating the turkey and drinking gradually becomes a prelude to love. 5/10
