Torrent plot

Leonora (Greta Garbo) is a simple Spanish bourgeois girl who falls in love with Don Rafael Bruli (Ricardo Cortez), the son of her landlord. To prevent his son from marrying Leonora, Rafael's father banishes her from his estate. While Don Rafael grows into an important local politician, Leonora leaves for Paris, where she soon becomes known as a talented opera singer. When she returns as a rich lady, Don Rafael makes her a marriage proposal. However, she has not forgotten the past and refuses, even after he saves her life during a storm surge.
