Professional ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine (Antonio Banderas) decides to volunteer at a school in New York. Dance class that is. And that to a difficult group of students who have to stay behind. The students are initially very skeptical about Dulaine, especially when they notice what he is coming to teach them, but because of his enormous dedication he slowly but surely wins over them. The umpteenth film about brushing up on a group of underprivileged boys at a high school near Harlem (New York). This time the hip-hoppers are taught the basic elements of ballroom dancing. Very predictable but still fun to watch, although the development of the mutual relationships could have been given a little more attention. Nevertheless, I have a good feeling about it.

Reasonable dance film. There's been an incredible amount of movies like this already, and Take the Lead doesn't do much new or different either. It's all very predictable, and only the acting of Banderas and the other actors ensures that the film does not go out like a candle. A certain dance scene at the end, with Jenna Dewan once again showing her great dancing skills, is also a highlight and a smashing finale.
