David Decoteau is a master when it comes to wrong, bad and at the same time hilarious pulp. The perfect example? Without a doubt this insane The Killer Eye. Because how many films are there in which a curious mutated eyeball takes a look at the life of a young scholar B-version of Matthew McConaughey and his sexually neglected wife, who likes to spend her time with a bunch of half-naked dopeheads in white sports socks? And then we haven't even mentioned the young, queer drifter who gets to undergo the strange experiment and the crazy sidekick, named Creepy Bill, who can perhaps best be described as a B-movie version of Johnny Depp and Brad Pitt at their most idiotic.

The Killer Eye is pulp with a capital H. So ridiculously ridiculous that it's actually fun to watch. The film looks like it was made in the early 80s, complete with laughable slow-motion love scenes and crappy video effects. It's just a shame that the 'murdering eye' from the title gets very little to do, other than observe and fire some lightning bolts. A good dose of gore would have done the film a lot of good, we thought. Because despite the fact that the film, under the caliber 'so bad it's fun', manages to entertain quite a bit, there could have been more in it. Although not Decoteau's best, every pulp fan will definitely find something to amuse themselves with with The Killer Eye.

Okay, 2 stars for the entertainment.

Tiring horror film about an evil eye that makes the characters perform all kinds of actions against their will, although even that remains unclear for a long time due to the completely chaotic finish by director David DeCoteau. The Killer Eye is really about nothing at all, which is why the makers just let their characters fuck around and hope to fill it with most of the filler. The film has cheap sets, ugly effects, is terribly acted and completely uninteresting to follow. It all doesn't even last that long, but the whole thing still felt like a 120-minute sit. Only and only for fans of this kind of trashy horror.
