I actually didn't disappoint at all. Atmosphere throughout the film was quite oppressive. I find Asian Horror visually scarier anyway. It reminded me a bit of Ringu. It wasn't very original, but I was still into it. The girl's ghost didn't look too cozy either. Acting was not your thing. I thought the ending was quite nice. All's well that ends well. 3 stars.

Without Miike's ironic winks, what remains is a film that takes itself far too seriously for its own sake. The original approach has been exchanged for cheap special effects and melodramatic overacting that the dogs don't like. Perhaps it is a little scarier because it is presented less rudely, but overall it is certainly not an improvement on the original.

Extremely boring sequel to the Japanese ghost film. The same concept is used again and this includes characters who investigate the matter (too) thoroughly. This is combined with poor acting and a major lack of tension. While Takashi Miike sometimes wanted to come up with strong sequences in the predecessor, current director Renpei Tsukamoto is completely unable to develop any form of threat. The story is completely nonsensical and, above all, extremely boring, making the long, drawn-out playing time a very difficult one. The first hour is stripped of highlights and the second hour is almost completely interchangeable, only the few murders in between are somewhat entertaining. Absolute dragon of a movie.
