The Secretary plot
Ellen used to be a successful stockbroker. Then a male colleague commits suicide after rejecting him. After this terrible event, she moves from Miami to Los Angeles and is determined to leave it all behind. After being a stay-at-home mom for eight years, Ellen decides to pick up her career as a stockbroker again. At that moment, Ellen's husband leaves and she is left alone with the baby. She goes through with her plans anyway and in her new job she gets to know the secretary Deirdre. They become good friends, but when Deirdre doesn't get the promotion she hoped for, she blames Ellen for it. Deirdre accidentally discovers Ellen's "secret" and seeks revenge.
