Grover Cleveland Alexander is a simple telephone company employee who enjoys playing baseball as a hobby. If he is drafted into the Philadelphia Nationals, it will be the start of a brilliant career. He owes his nickname "Alex the Great" partly to the fact that in 20 years of playing he only lost 200 games. After playing for the Philadelphia Nationals, he is sold to the Chicago Cubs and later to the St. Louis Cardinals. His beautiful wife supports him in everything. Based on a true story.
