Typical Giallo that however does not rise above the 'typical' Giallo anywhere. Except for Fenech's facade perhaps. It never really gets exciting and (audio)visually the film never manages to surprise. Still entertaining.

The Case of the Bloody Iris is a typical giallo in which the leather gloves, a masked killer, the kills, the necessary nudity and a list of suspects form the basis. The viewer is regularly misled and just when you think you know the perpetrator, you get other twists that indicate new suspects. In the end, the killer is surprising (certainly the way in which the killer can camouflage his involvement with a recorder), but a bit far-fetched given the motive of the murders. This fact and the weak confrontation at the end ensure that it is not a top film. One to definitely see because there are enough giallo elements in the film to enjoy it. And we certainly do that with Edwige Fenech. Seems to be a kind of muse for this kind of films. A beautiful lady with a great appearance and those eyes are heavenly. 7/10

This is a fine example of the giallo genre. Beautiful ladies, seventies zeitgeist, murderer with gloves (brown this time), detached acting, complex plot. The opening scene may have inspired Brian de Palma for his Dressed to Kill.
Cast and crew are all familiar with the genre. The script is by Ernesto Gastaldi and then you know right away that you are in the right place because he is one of the best. The music is by Bruno Nicolai, friend of Morricone and also sounds a bit like him (without wanting to shortchange his own talent). Edwige Feniche in the lead role does a perfect job in her dangerous environment. The women in those films are not the women you see in today's films. They are all a bit more victim and often have to be protected or saved by a man. For those who want to get acquainted with the giallo genre, this is already a nice entry.
