Cautiva plot
"A whole life ahead. A whole past to face."
Christina, a teenage girl happily growing up in the better neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, is called out of class one day and brought before a judge. The man casually tells that her real name is not Christina but Sofia and that the parents who have raised her for years are not her real parents. The girl is forced to live with her relative grandmother and meets a fellow sufferer at her new school.

During Videla's military dictatorship (“The Dirty War”) in Argentina, thousands of newborn babies were separated from their biological parents immediately after birth, who then disappeared without a trace. The babies were given as gifts to soldiers or close acquaintances for adoption. This film is about a teenager who is told by a judge that her parents are not her real parents. Confused and initially in disbelief, she and a fellow sufferer try to find out what happened.
A biting drama that once again brings to light the long aftermath of the atrocities of that time. A gripping directorial debut by Gastón Biraben with an excellent leading role by Bárbara Lombardo.
The film brings to mind Oscar winner La Historia Oficial by Luis Puenzo (1985).
