Portrait of Swedish footballer Zlatan Ibrahimovic on the eve of his glorious career. Unique archive material shows a young Zlatan, who candidly talks about his life. The film follows him closely, from his debut at Malmö FF in 1999, through a turbulent time at Ajax to his final breakthrough at Juventus in 2005. “Becoming Zlatan” is a coming-of-age film about the complex path that this young , gifted and troubled footballer to eventually become a star in the international football world. It's the story of a talented boy who struggles with his newfound fame and immense expectations: of teammates in Malmö, who feel he's only playing for himself; from trainers at Ajax, who put him on the bench, causing him to lose his self-confidence; from his father, who tells 18-year-old Zlatan that he is nothing. With his eventual breakthrough in Italy, the doors close and Zlatan begins to completely shield his personal life...
