There may be several reasons to be a fan of the giallo genre: killers with leather gloves, killers with razors, a lot of non-functional nudity, bad cousins, beautiful Argento-style visuals, bloody sadism and abuse of women. Above all, we love the genre because of the often triple plots in which almost the entire cast could be the mysterious killer at some point. And here they actually turn it into a at least quadruple plot. Or else forget all logic and every lesson in writing sensible film plots. In the meantime, it is of course fun with the mysterious killer with oversized sunglasses and especially the giggling knife thrower who seems to have stepped straight out of Bassie & Adriaan. We also touch on 3 of the first mentioned giallo genre characteristics.

Messy, but extremely enjoyable mess for enthusiasts.

Haha, that ending is completely blown away even for a giallo. What a directionless plot, my interest was already waning halfway through the film. Also extremely disappointing that, unlike La Morte Cammina con i Tacchi Alti (1971), goddess Nieves Navarro simply does not take off her clothes. Furthermore, beautifully shot, just like the high heels.

Tight 2.5*.

This giallo is a collaboration between the who's who of the genre. Sergio Corbucci and Ernesto Gastaldi, two key figures of the genre, worked on the script. The plot is expected to be quite complicated. I found the twists at the end a bit harder to follow, also because I watched it in Italian. Visually it is in good hands with Luciano Ercoli. It's all well paced.

His wife Nieves Navarro aka Susan Scott plays the leading role. She is a strong, emancipated woman and can therefore hold her own. Something that is not always the case in the giallo. The music is by Gianni Ferrio. He is a lesser-known Italian composer but just as talented as his better-known colleagues. What wealth there was in those days.
