A comedy in which a rich kid is kidnapped by 3 kidnappers. This fact certainly does not make for a strong story, but fortunately it is worked out a lot more nicely. The kidnappers are a bunch of bunglers who have only bad luck after kidnapping the child. The story is well developed and has a great amount of humor. It is often quite bland and above all very unrealistic, yet the film often manages to entertain with its humor.

I used to watch this movie quite often when you could still record movies on VHS. I was still small myself so the slapstick humor caught on anyway. I was afraid it would be a bit of a disappointment after a revision, but it was still enjoyable, maybe a little bit from a nostalgic point of view.

The comparison with big brother Home Alone is quickly made. Both films are written by John Hughes and are about a small child who outsmarts a few adult villains. You can argue about the way the baby always escapes, but it certainly makes for funny moments. Baby Bink follows the story of his favorite children's book through which he visits various places in the big city. Personally, I think it's a funny plot for a children's comedy, which also makes for a sweet ending.

The highly cuddly baby is played by twins, while some stunts used a robot and the late actor/stuntman Verne 'Mini-me' Troyer. None of the three villains really stands out, I think they all have something. A number of scenes that do stand out and have stuck with you after all these years are the scenes in the park, the zoo and the construction site. The humor is wonderfully harsh, the kind of humor where villains fall tens of meters down on their balls without actually getting hurt or dying.

Not as entertaining and certainly not as big a status as Home Alone, but the score here is remarkably low. Even on IMDb, they're even milder.
