After a six-month suspension, Detective Max Garret is transferred to the Homicide Division. Immediately, he is confronted with what appears to be a junkie's suicide. But Max sees similarities with other cases and the longer he goes on it, the more he gets the idea that he is dealing with a serial killer. The trail leads to the photo studio of Laura Cross, a sexy photographer with a penchant for SM. Max becomes intrigued by this sensual woman, her dark side and her obsession with sadomasochism. When he becomes more involved in the case, Max breaks more and more rules by starting an intense sex relationship with Laura. Risking his marriage and his job, he threatens to fall into the trap of a serial killer...
