The Patriot plot
"Every second counts."
During the trial, Floyd Chisolm, leader of a militant group, spits in Judge Tomkin's face and he ends up in the hospital. There it turns out that the judge is infected with a horrible virus. A biodisaster response team arrives by plane and sets out to investigate. Meanwhile, more and more people in the area are becoming seriously ill. Moments later, Floyd's supporters raid the court and free him. They learn that only the blood of Holly, daughter of Wesley McLaren (Steven Seagal), can provide a cure. But before any actual blood can be drawn, Wes comes to the rescue, grabs Holly and escapes. When the guards die one by one, it quickly becomes a race against time.

Indians with horses and wooden houses are combined here with the FBI and medical teams in white suits. Strange that the arrested Floyd turns out to be infected and then we are saddled with a disappointing race to the antidote in which Wesley has to protect his daughter. It all looks well cared for, but what matters is far too thin to remain captivated.

An apocalyptic SF western starring Steven Seagal as a biochemist. Director Dean Semler tries to put these seemingly incompatible elements in the same film, but is clearly thwarted by the shaky script. In the end, he brings in the truck with the beautiful landscape images, which also work, but in the end falls down with a completely wrong apotheosis. In the meantime Seagal has added some Indians and homeopathy as usual and you have a film that has almost become a genre in itself.
