La Bête du Gévaudan plot
Lozère, 1767. The people of the remote mountain village of Saugues live in agony after a series of gruesome murders. Everything indicates that the victims were bitten to death by a terrible monster. The villagers, led by Abbe Pourcher, are convinced that the Huguenot blacksmith Jean Chastel was responsible for the murders. But the young doctor Pierre Rampal does not believe in Chastel's guilt and investigates himself.
