Redentor (2004)

What strange reactions here? I saw this DVD a long time ago, I think in Amsterdam at that shop on the Nieuwstraat (Boudisque, I believe?). Yes, very different times; it was quite cheap (7 euros) and the cover appealed to me, as did the subject matter. And then you buy it. It was a time when you would just instinctively try something you didn't know yet. In these times of dulling algorithms and indifference towards everything, and the desperate clinging to, rewatching, and constantly repeating what you already know, it is almost unthinkable. But that's how it went.

And what a film this is!! Wow, it is comedic but at the same time it is brutally honest. It is about real, raw life and how the greed of one always comes at the expense of so many others. And this is just a very special film that apparently hasn't been understood judging by the reactions here?? I think it is absolutely fantastic; I still think about this film often and I have to honestly admit that I have rewatched it a number of times. I actually never do that, but this film is so special, strange, and moving. Really everything combined, and also perfectly filmed, so go see it.
