Les Années Sandwiches plot

1947. The neglected seventeen-year-old orphan Victor Rabinski returns to Paris. He wants to find acquaintances of his deceased parents. In the subway he meets Felix, a boy from a wealthy family. Felix helps Victor find his parents' acquaintances, who sadly turn out to be dead. Victor finds shelter with the ragtag farmer Max, who adopts him as his son.
