I've never seen Carlito's Way before, so when I saw it aired, I just sat down and watched it. When after half an hour I still didn't see Al Pacino passing by, and on the other hand I did see P. Diddy, I started to wonder if I was in the right movie. So no, as it turned out. 
Carlito's Way so still haven't seen it, should really be there soon.
But hey, I was already fine with this movie, so I watched it. In my opinion, not a bad film, a very interesting story and excellent acting. Of course I can't compare it with the real one yet, so maybe that's why my assessment is a bit milder.

Not bad for a TV movie. The cast ranges from pretty good (from Peebles) to bad, with the lead actor unfortunately falling into the latter category; he has no charisma. The story can be guessed, but the maximum is still being used and the film looks quite nice. The comparison with DePalma's version doesn't hold up at all, but you know that before you start this..
