"It only comes but once a year - but could this be the last?"
Santa Claus has had it all. Since there are now more naughty children than nice children, it makes little sense to let Christmas go on. His eldest daughter is an annoying weight and will be in charge from now on. His youngest daughter tries to persuade him to stay.
