Camille Morestau is a family man who, during his jury duties, takes pity on the defendant, the homeless Natalie Rougin. Due to some unlikely events, Camille invites Natalie to move in with him and his family until the trial is over. Camille's son, Claude, suspects something is going on between his father and Natalie and begins to develop an interest in Natalie himself. Realizing that her presence has created tensions in the Morestau home, Natalie prepares for a departure to be financed with some of the Morestau's valuable possessions.
