"The cure is deadlier than the disease"

Twenty years ago, Dr. Max Warick experimenting with a mysterious drug that could cure certain types of madness. Unfortunately, the experiments got out of hand, some subjects went completely mad and some even died. Twenty years later, a few people are bringing that drug back onto the market, with dire consequences.

Directing duo James Eaves and Johannes Roberts (both making their film debuts) deliver a mostly dull, unwatchable mess with Sanitarium. After all the footage was filmed, Uri Geller's role was added to soften the complexity, but this only makes the whole thing more cluttered. While some of the footage within the filming location still has some atmospheric quality, it becomes little more than random scenes set in the context of a rather unremarkable (evil) cure. The underlying story is quite well-conceived, but it's too sparsely developed to offer a positive spin. Johannes Roberts made significant progress in his later years, and I wish him the best in that regard.
