The film has been released on DVD, although you will have to pay top dollar for it. I couldn't resist the lure of a free online version.
The national socialist propaganda in this Veit Harlan is still subtle when compared to his later films. Kristina Söderbaum, the director's wife, once again plays the Aryan prototype. You have to endure the kitschy domestic scenes full of virtue. The film only gets going when the adultery comes to light. Beautiful dream sequence or more of a vision actually during the journey to Tilsit. The 'Polish' co-star is the big culprit in the marriage that almost ends on the rocks. Magda Goebbels left the premiere emotionally. The resemblance to her husband's affair was unmistakable.
