From the time when director Lenzi still occasionally made technically full-fledged films, although you have to be Umberto Lenzi to release a film with the title Paranoia in both 1969 and 1970 and with the same leading actress in the lead role.
The story is somewhat reminiscent of A Kiss Before Dying, set here in a villa on the Italian coast and spiced up with some non-functional nudity by Carroll Baker (not that it's a punishment to watch).
It all meanders along a bit too much: a bit of a thriller, a bit of a soap opera, a bit of an eroticism.
A bit too much standard formula work.

A bit confusing as far as the title is concerned because the same director, Umberto Lenzi, had also released a film a year earlier with the title Paranoia (aka Orgasmo ) 1969 and with the same lead actress, Carroll Baker. This film, also known as A Quiet Place to Kill (1970), also follows the director's line in terms of story to develop sufficient confusion among the viewer with quite a few plot twists towards the end. That also has its charms and in the end you can't predict it either. The cast is attractive and play their roles solidly. I like Jean Sorel and the ladies Carroll Baker and Marina Coffa are quite good. Here and there some nudity from Baker, although it is not really used functionally. The story gets going slowly, but manages to captivate sufficiently due to the cast, content, location and atmosphere. At a certain point the story takes a completely different turn that you don't see coming where the love triangle unexpectedly changes in composition. Of course, all kinds of plot twists come at the viewer to confuse you completely, but the final scene is well chosen. 7/10

An unlikely love and murder scenario that is presented very attractively. The leading roles are written for the (beautiful) bodies of Caroll Baker and Jean Sorel. Now those are 2 actors who shine on screen. Even if they were to read the phone book, it would still be entertaining. Furthermore, you can marvel at the jet set lifestyle, fast cars, insane views, beautiful villa, in short, the entire Italian giallo setting. Umberto Lenzi brings it all dynamically into view with his characteristic zooms. As in other films with Baker and Sorel, the story here also takes a delightfully cynical turn. The discovery of the wife's body is actually reminiscent of the finale of Au Plein Soleil, where a similar case takes place.
100% pulp and 100% fun.
